tips for drawing ?

of course all of that is from my personal experience, so it might not be true for everybody, but here’s what i’ve got:

you don’t have to love everything you do, but don’t hate anything you do. you made stuff and that’s SUPER COOL
trust your own strokes; confidence is visible in your lines and makes drawings easier to read and understand
find out what works for you! some people are line-types, others are made for shapes, some work better in colour, some better in b/w—don’t think you have to do something a certain way just because everyone around you does
don’t equate effort with quality; a drawing doesn’t have to take hours to be “good”
good drawings are those that resonate with the viewer—so if your doodles receive more attention than elaborate paintings don’t be surprised or discouraged! think about what those quick drawings have that the paintings might lack
don’t try to make things pretty, especially not from the get go. my initial sketches look abhorrent and i’m glad they do because that makes it easier to set the right atmosphere
learn when to stop. some things were never meant to be more than sketches
realise that there are different ways of learning: deliberate observation and actual drawing practice. observation and understanding of what you see expand your mental reference library, and train your eye. practice hones your skill of transferring your knowledge onto paper, and trains your hand. do both!
style comes from repetition—don’t try to find your own style too soon and too desperately, that will only impair your general improvement. use whichever style you feel works best to visualise your idea. if you do end up with a single distinctive style: cool. if you don’t: also cool!
change the way you sit every once in a while. that’s good for both your body and mind and allows you to view things from a new perspective
enthusiasm. and drawing is a lot more fun if you allow yourself to suck!

It all starts with self-love!

Take your time to get to know yourself + find self-love. This won’t happen overnight, it’s something you need to practice, build + progress.

Stop beating yourself up over things you can’t help. Picking on yourself so harshly for things, overthinking + comparing yourself to people.

You can never be anyone but YOU. Instead of being negative about it, start working on making a better version of you.

‘I have this vision but I just don’t know how to get there because…’

Stop with this immediate self-doubt. How can something come to you when you’re not ready to receive it?

Getting what you want out of life — you’re the only person who can make this happen for yourself!

Hoping, wishing, overthinking, complaining about things you don’t have yet… It’s just a waste of time.

Oh, but it’s impossible — Hello? Have you looked around? People are doing impossible things every day. It’s just your mindset.

Expand your mind to be open, understand that there are endless opportunities for yourself — that may even come unexpectedly.

Push yourself, work hard + set goals — the sooner your start, the sooner you’ll get there!

You need to believe in your vision 100,000%. Back yourself, back your dreams, back your vision!

Setbacks + Failure

It’s not the end of the world.

We’re constantly moving forward + learning.

Question things + reflect on situations WITHOUT judgment.

Learn from your setbacks — build + grow from them. Use them to fuel yourself + move forward.

Tips + Tricks:

Writing + journalling — Put your thoughts, feelings, goals, drawings + scribbles onto paper! Express yourself, reflect and be non-judgemental.

Self-love + care — Nourish your mind, body, soul + spirit. Push yourself to achieve greatness, but remember to take care of yourself to, on the inside and out.

Talk to people + listen — If you have a problem, be vulnerable! Tell someone. Listen to what people are really saying, let them inspire you + take care of them.

Acceptance — Accept who you are + be proud! Be open to self-development + learning. Be the best you you can be + accept others.

Ask questions, go further — Question yourself + situations. You won’t develop nor learn from sitting on the sidelines quietly.

Dream big — Make your dreams outrageous + huge! Persist, persist, persist + never give up!

Never stop giving — Life is all about giving + taking, but mostly giving. Make people feel special, spread your energy, love + support!

check out bjd collectasy they have a whole list of companies! You can also go on alice's collections (they're a legit dealer for several companies). Take it from someone who fucked up first time, don't just buy a doll because it's cheap, save up for the one you really really want and love. If you settle for a doll just because it's cheap you'll end up regretting it and wishing you'd just saved up extra for the more expensive one you liked better.

Oh thank you :) I’ll look into it and yeah I was thinking of just getting a cheap one because of that but you’re right it’d do better to just save for the one I really want o.o, now imma just look around and find one that I really want and would love to have and save up for it :) I saw a few in the bjd tag that were pretty cool o.o but when I checked the sites some were sold out lol but I’ll keep looking I’m in no rush o.o, and while I’m saving I can decide if bjd is really something I wanna invest in.
